Product Overview
Sucralose (also called sucralose sweetener) is a new-generation healthy sweetener, a sucrose derivative made from sucrose through natural modification processes. It can be mixed with maltodextrin or dextrose as bulking agents, around 600 times sweeter than sucrose with a clean sweet profile and no bitter aftertaste. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder, freely soluble in water, methanol and alcohol, slightly soluble in ethyl acetate, serving as a non-caloric sweetener and flavour enhancer.
Oriental Tongxiang sucralose is certified ISO9001, ISO22000, BRC, GMP, Kosher and Halal, and meets GB25531-2010, FCC12, EP10, USP43, FDA CFR (21.172.831) and E955 (EU Regulation 231/2012).

Key Benefits of Sucralose
- Highly potent sweetener (≈600× sucrose)
Very low usage rate helps lower raw material, packaging & shipping costs, and reduces carbon footprint from transportation
- Zero-calorie
Does not raise blood glucose levels, friendly for low-sugar and diabetic-friendly formulations
- Clean sucrose-like taste, no bitter aftertaste
Excellent heat and acid stability, retains sweetness through baking, pasteurization and long shelf storage
- Non-cariogenic: does not promote tooth decay
Compatible with most other sweeteners and functional ingredients for easy formulation
Application Selection Guide

Application |
Typical Addition Level |
Main Contribution |
Key Formulation Consideration |
|
Tabletop |
0.8–1.2% in sweetener blend |
High sweetness intensity, zero calorie, clean sucrose-like taste, easy dry blending |
Good flowability with carriers (maltodextrin/erythritol); control dusting; match sweetness target |
|
Tablets |
0.05–0.2% |
Mask bitter/earthy off-notes from actives; provide clean sweet taste; non-cariogenic |
Excellent compressibility; compatible with most excipients; avoid over-sweetening which may trigger lingering aftertaste |
|
Pharmaceutical |
0.02–0.15% |
Flavor masking for bitter APIs; calorie-free sweetener for oral suspensions, chewable tablets |
Confirm compendial grade (USP); compatible with pH range 3–7; validate stability with active ingredients |
|
Powdered drink mixes |
0.04–0.12% |
Fast dissolution, sugar-like sweetness, no browning during storage |
Uniform distribution in dry premix; prevent segregation with other powder ingredients |
|
Baking |
0.03–0.10% |
Heat stable under typical baking temperature; replace sugar for low-sugar bakery; no Maillard browning |
It cannot replace sugar's bulking function; bulking agent (erythritol/inulin) required for texture & volume |
|
Carbonated soft drinks |
0.02–0.08% |
Stable under acidic & carbonated conditions; clean sweet profile, low off-taste |
Long-term acid stability; avoid high concentration to minimize slight lingering sweetness |
|
Yogurts |
0.03–0.09% |
Low-calorie sweetening; compatible with fermented dairy matrix; does not interfere with yogurt culture |
Add after fermentation preferred; avoid impacting lactic acid bacteria activity |
|
Ice cream |
0.03–0.08% |
Reduce sugar content; delivers upfront clean sweetness; does not depress freezing point strongly |
Match with bulking agents to maintain overrun, texture and mouthfeel |

FAQ
Q: How is sucralose different from other artificial high-intensity sweeteners?
A: Sucralose is approximately 600× sweeter than sucrose, higher than aspartame (~200×) and acesulfame-K (~200×). It delivers a rounded, sugar-like flavour with minimal metallic aftertaste. Unlike aspartame, it remains stable under heat and acidic conditions, suitable for baking, pasteurization and long-shelf-life products. It also requires no PKU warning on labels, which simplifies packaging compliance. Acesulfame-K often carries a sharp, metallic note and is mostly used in blends, while sucralose works well alone or in combinations.
Q: Can sucralose be blended with other sweeteners or fibers?
A: Yes. It works synergistically with stevia, monk fruit, acesulfame-K, erythritol and inulin to smooth sweetness profile and reduce formulation cost.
Q: Does sucralose interact with colours, flavours or preservatives in my formula?
A: Under recommended usage levels, it is inert and compatible with most food colours, flavours and common preservatives. Compatibility testing for your full formula is still suggested.
Q: Are there any labeling restrictions for sucralose in the US?
A: It can be simply listed as "sucralose" on ingredient panels. No mandatory warning statement, unlike aspartame. It is not permitted for USDA-certified organic finished goods.
Q: Is sucralose approved and safe for food use in major countries?
A: Yes.
China: Approved under GB 2760, specification standard GB 25531, permitted for a wide range of food categories including beverages, bakery, dairy and confectionery.
US: FDA approved, GRAS status for food & supplement applications.
EU: Authorised as E955; EFSA confirms safety for approved uses.
JECFA (FAO/WHO): Set ADI 0–15 mg/kg body weight per day.
It is also approved in Japan, Australia and many other markets when used within regulatory limits.
