Product Overview

Organic Isomalto-oligosaccharide (Organic IMO) is an organic starch-derived oligosaccharide ingredient produced through enzymatic conversion, refining and concentration. It is a mixture of glucose oligomers rather than a single pure compound, and is supplied in powder and syrup forms.

We offer Organic IMO powder at 90% and liquid grades at 50% or 90%. Organic IMO has sweetness around 45–50% of sucrose and can be used in beverages, confectionery, dairy, bakery, functional foods and other formulations. The suitable grade should be selected according to the finished product and market requirements.

Note: Specifications may vary by grade and destination market. The powder/syrup limits above include the EU novel food specification in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/97; commercial grade specifications should be confirmed against the selected product TDS/COA. Organic certification status is confirmed against the applicable organic standard and certificate for the destination market.

Key Benefits

Mild Sweetness

Organic IMO provides a relatively mild sweetness at about 45–50% of sucrose, according to the supplied product reference.

Low Hygroscopicity

Organic IMO has good moisture-retention properties and can provide useful formulation support in suitable food applications.

Good Stability

Organic IMO has good stability. Its viscosity is described in the supplied product reference as close to sucrose, and it can participate in Maillard reactions under suitable processing conditions.

Powder and Syrup Options

Both powder and liquid grades of Organic IMO are available, giving manufacturers flexibility for dry blends, beverages, dairy products, confectionery and other applications.

IMO + Stevia

A possible option when a higher sweetness level is required while keeping IMO as part of the solids system.

IMO + Other Sweeteners

Combinations can be discussed according to the target sweetness, mouthfeel and application.

IMO + Other Functional Ingredients

Possible for formulations that need IMO together with other functional ingredients, subject to application and market requirements.

FAQ

Q: What is IMO? A: Isomalto-oligosaccharide (IMO) is a starch-derived oligosaccharide ingredient produced through enzymatic conversion, refining and concentration. It is available in powder and syrup forms and provides a mild sweetness of about 45–50% of sucrose.

Q: What IMO grades do you supply? A: We offer IMO powder at 90% and liquid grades at 50% or 90%. The suitable grade depends on the finished product, processing method, required solids and handling conditions. Commercial specifications should be confirmed against the selected grade.

Q: How sweet is IMO compared with sucrose? A: The supplied product reference gives a sweetness of around 45–50% of sucrose. The actual sensory profile may vary with grade and formulation.

Q: What products can use IMO? A: Typical applications in the supplied product reference include beverages, confectionery, dairy products, bakery products and functional foods. Any use in infant or young-child foods must be checked against the destination market regulations.

Q: Is liquid IMO available? A: Yes. Liquid IMO is available at 50% and 90% grades. It is supplied as a transparent, clear colorless to light-yellow viscous syrup.

Q: Does IMO have a single CAS number or molecular formula? A: Commercial IMO is a mixture of glucose oligomers, so it does not have one universal molecular formula or molecular weight. CAS 499-40-1 is commonly associated with isomaltose, not the whole IMO mixture; the product should therefore be identified by its composition and grade specification.

Q: Can you provide a COA and technical data sheet? A: Yes. Product specifications, batch-specific COA and technical data sheets can be provided according to the product grade and documentation requirements.

Q: Can you provide IMO samples for testing? A: Yes. Samples can be arranged for formulation or product evaluation. Please share the required form, grade and application so we can confirm the suitable sample and available documentation.

Q: What is the MOQ for IMO? A: No minimum order quantity restrictions.

Q: Can IMO be used in custom formulations? A: Yes. IMO can be evaluated together with sweeteners, dietary fibers or other functional ingredients. The final combination should be assessed according to sweetness, texture, stability, processing conditions and market requirements.

Q: How should IMO be stored? A: Store the product according to the applicable product specification. Keep powder packaging sealed and protected from moisture. Liquid IMO should be handled and stored according to the grade-specific storage guidance.
